It's pretty simple really. Think about the road that you'd like to see improved and:

Gnangara Road and Beechboro Road North

Issue

Increased vehicle traffic

Update

The section of Gnangara Road between Drumpellier Drive and Beechboro Road has been upgraded to a dual carriageway. Traffic lights have been installed at the intersection of Gnangara Road and Beechboro Road North. A dual carriageway upgrade on Gnangara Road from Beechboro Road to Alexander Drive is currently under construction and due for completion in 2017.

Bussell Highway

Issue

Poor road quality, lack of overtaking opportunities

Proposed update

Planning, design works and approvals are in progress to upgrade the 17km single carriageway between Capel and Sabina to a dual carriageway. Main Roads are seeking funding from State and Federal Governments for the works to commence in 2017/18.

Toodyay Road

Issue

Increased traffic, poor road condition, and lack of overtaking opportunities

Update

A $5 million safety improvement project has been completed at the intersection of Noble Falls and Toodyay Roads. This included widening of Toodyay Road, the installation of turn lanes, street lighting and guard rails. In addition, a $3 million safety upgrade between Noble Falls and Aspen Roads incorporated the installation of sealed shoulders, safety barriers and updated guideposts. Main Roads are currently updating five intersections between Red Hill and Noble Falls. This 21 km stretch will be completed by 2017.

Great Eastern Highway

Issue

Poor road quality and width

Update

Works were completed in May 2015 on upgrading Great Eastern Highway between Bullabulling and Coolgardie. Roads were widened and realigned, overlay was laid and line markings and barriers were installed. 15 new passing lanes are being installed between Southern Cross and Kalgoorlie, due for completion in March 2017. Additional widening works to be completed in late 2017.

Great Northern Highway

Issue

Poor road quality and width

Update

Upgrades were completed to the 11km section between Bindi Bindi and Lyons East Road in February 2015. Works included road realignment to remove dangerous bends, the installation of overtaking lanes and a new rail crossing. The Bindi Bindi Project is the first stage of the $420m upgrade of the highway between Muchea and Wubin.

South Western Highway

Issue

Poor road quality and width, vegetation encroaching on road

Update

Stage one of the South Western Highway upgrade has been completed between Eastbourne Road and Vasse Highway. Stage two of the works will commence in late 2016 between Eastbourne road and Manjimup. Road widening and improved road geometry along this 19km section will improve road safety for all users.

Coalfields Highway

Issue

Narrow road and bridge

Update

The 2.6 km Hamilton River section of the Coalfields Highway has been sealed and shoulders widened. A further 7km section of the highway is undergoing construction to add passing lanes, realign the road, upgrade intersections and provide turning lanes. Works are anticipated to be completed in late 2016

Reid Highway and Malaga Drive

Issue

Inadequate crossing or turning opportunities and an inadequate traffic light system

Update

Main Roads have segregated Reid Highway and Malaga Drive, with the construction of a bridge overpass. The majority of this project is now complete with minor works being finalised.

Berkshire Road and Roe Highway

Issue

Inadequate crossing or turning opportunities and an inadequate and confusing traffic light system. Vegetation blocking visibility of oncoming traffic was also an issue.

Update

An overpass is under construction that will separate Roe Highway from Berkshire Road. The intersection has also now been upgraded from a T-Junction to an interchange.

North Lake Road and Bibra Drive

Issue

Inadequate crossing or turning opportunities.

Update

The intersection has been upgraded to a roundabout this lowers vehicle speeds through the intersection and provides safe gaps for traffic to turn right.

Tonkin Highway and Gosnells Road West

Issue

Inadequate crossing or turning opportunities, speed of vehicles is too high.

Update

Intersection upgrades were completed in August 2016 and included the widening of Gosnells Road West to extend the left turning lane, and the extension of the right turning lanes from Tonkin Highway southbound. This $2.4 million Black Spot project also included the extension of a cycle lane and the installation of a pedestrian crossing, upgraded street lighting and CCTV.
